Janet Florence McCormack

If you would visit the activity departments at Mound City High School, one person you would find in almost every department is Janet McCormack. She was born on Aug. 7, 1947, to Mr. and Mrs. Carson McCormack, Jr. and was named Janet Florence McCormack.

She has attended Mound City school all 12 years and has been especially active the last four.

Janet has been art editor on the annual staff for the past four years, and helped do the photography her senior year. She has also benefited the student council by making crowns for the royalty, helping with decorations, and being a representative her senior year.

Much of the credit for the wonderful fashion show sponsored by the FHA must go to Janet.

The “Jessica Morlock” we saw in the class play was also Janet.
She has been in the pep club four years and was a junior cheerleader her freshman year.

But, beyond this Janet says her high point in high school has been music. She has been an accompanist all four years and has taken a piano solo to the district contest three years.  She has taken her solo to State two years and received a #2 rating both times. She has been a stage band member two years, a mixed chorus member, and has played for baccalaureate three years.  Because of all of these accomplishments in music; she received the “Eugene Smith Music Award.”

Janet also received other awards at the honor assembly. She was presented the American Legion and the “I Dare You” awards and earned honorable mention from the English department. Janet also was awarded a trip to Girls’ State her junior year and has been on the honor roll four years.

In the office of our school hangs a picture of a panther painted by Janet and presented to the school at the Honor Assembly.

Her plans for the future are to attend Denver University this summer and Lindenwood College this fall. I am sure she will succeed in whatever she may do in life.—LD.
